1. The first step is to raise one side of the undercarriage using the arm of the machine.

2. Locate and remove the access plate to allow access to the track adjuster grease valve.

3. Loosen the grease valve to release the tension from the rubber track.

4. Remove the old rubber track from the machine. You may require assistance to move the track on larger machines as they can be heavy and awkward to remove.

5. Position the new rubber track in place on the frame making sure you start at the sprocket end of the machine.

6. Hook the other end of the track on to the idler. You may find that the track is a little tight and you can only partially cover the idler.

7. Ask the operator to carefully and slowly rotate the track forward slightly. If necessary use a bar to lever the track link over the idler.

8. Once the track is seated correctly, tighten the grease valve.

9. Using a powered grease gun, pump grease into the track adjuster valve to re-tension the track.

10. Make sure that you refer to the manufacturer’s guide for the correct tension for your machine. In general, the track should be tensioned until you have approximately 15-20mm clearance beneath the bottom rollers.

11. Once the track has been correctly tensioned, replace the access plate on the side of the track frame.

12. Re-check the track tension after 1 day, and then after a week, as they do stretch slightly when they are new.
